My Ashford photo competition rules
- The My Ashford photographic competition is open to any person that is NOT a member of Ashford Photographic Society
- Photographs must:
- have been taken within Ashford town and its adjoining areas, e.g. Willesborough, Kennington, Godinton, South Ashford, Repton and Singleton
- depict a scene or subject matter that a local resident would associate with Ashford
- Prizes will be awarded for the three photos that best depict an aspect of the town: 1st: £200; 2nd £100; 3rd: £50
- Each entrant may submit up to four entries
- There is no entry fee
- Submissions can be made from 1st May 2024 to the closing date of 31 July 2024 via the entry form, where you will need to supply for each entry:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- An image title
- The competition entry form will work on most web browsers, tablets or smartphones
- All images must submitted in the JPEG digital format and may be taken with any type of camera, including smartphones
- Images may be colour or monochrome/black and white
- Editing and cropping of images is permitted
- Content generated by Artificial Intelligence software is not permitted
- Any personal details collected will be used internally by the club solely for the purpose of identifying each entrant's photos and communication of the final competition results
- By submitting your photographs to the Photographic Competition, you agree that low-resolution versions may be utilised across Ashford Photographic Society media platforms (web site and social media), where the image will be credited to you
- You retain full rights to the image and we will not share them with third parties without your consent
- Personal data and images from winning entrants will be deleted one year after the closing date
- Personal data and images from unsuccessful entrants will be deleted one month after the closing date
- Other criteria that may be considered by the judges include:
- Composition
- Lighting
- Originality
- Impact
- Storytelling
- The photographs will be judged by a panel of three experienced photographers and long-term Ashford residents: Anthony Baines ARPS EFIAP; Philip Hinton ARPS and Martin Till ARPS
- The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
- Winners will be notified by email on Saturday 10th August 2024
- Winners will be announced on Saturday 10th August 2024 on the Society's web site and social media platforms
- A prizegiving event will held at a local venue to award prizes
- The Society will be holding an exhibition of the best entries in the Town and you may be invited to have your photograph printed for inclusion
