Ashford Photographic Society

General rules

1. The My Ashford photographic competition is open to any person that is NOT a member of Ashford Photographic Society
2. Photographs must:
   1. have been taken within Ashford town and its adjoining areas, e.g. Willesborough, Kennington, Godinton, South Ashford, Repton and Singleton
   2. depict a scene or subject matter that a local resident would associate with Ashford
3. Prizes will be awarded for the three photos that best depict an aspect of the town: 1st: £200; 2nd £100; 3rd: £50
4. Each entrant may submit up to four entries
5. There is no entry fee
6. Submissions can be made from 1st May 2024 to the closing date of 31 July 2024 via the entry form, where you will need to supply for each entry:
   1. Your full name
   2. Your email address
   3. Your phone number
   4. An image title
7. The competition entry form will work on most web browsers, tablets or smartphones

Image requirements

8. All images must submitted in the JPEG digital format and may be taken with any type of camera, including smartphones
9. Images may be colour or monochrome/black and white
10. Editing and cropping of images is permitted
11. Content generated by Artificial Intelligence software is not permitted

Privacy and data retention policy

12. Any personal details collected will be used internally by the club solely for the purpose of identifying each entrant's photos and communication of the final competition results
13. By submitting your photographs to the Photographic Competition, you agree that low-resolution versions may be utilised across Ashford Photographic Society media platforms (web site and social media), where the image will be credited to you
14. You retain full rights to the image and we will not share them with third parties without your consent
15. Personal data and images from winning entrants will be deleted one year after the closing date
16. Personal data and images from unsuccessful entrants will be deleted one month after the closing date

Judging

17. Other criteria that may be considered by the judges include:
    1. Composition
    2. Lighting
    3. Originality
    4. Impact
    5. Storytelling
18. The photographs will be judged by a panel of three experienced photographers and long-term Ashford residents: Anthony Baines ARPS EFIAP; Philip Hinton ARPS and Martin Till ARPS
19. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into

Notifcation and publication

20. Winners will be notified by email on Saturday 10th August 2024
21. Winners will be announced on Saturday 10th August 2024 on the Society's web site and social media platforms
22. A prizegiving event will held at a local venue to award prizes
23. The Society will be holding an exhibition of the best entries in the Town and you may be invited to have your photograph printed for inclusion
